Does it make a difference where the products I buy are made?

In economics we talk of “consumer sovereignty” or in other words consumers rule!

The decisions you make on the products you buy can effect economies and businesses and families.  When you have a choice of products to buy, another factor that you may consider is where the products are made and who gets the profits by making these products?

Why support the local shop? Why buy Australian made and Australian owned? Why buy global brands?

Activity: graph the revenue of the top 10 global brands.  How does Australia’s  GDP for 2010 of  USD 924,843,000,000 (924, 843 million) compare to the value of these global brands?
