Children are more vulnerable to abuses of their human rights. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child was ratified by 192 countries in 1989. The CRoC requires the nations who ratified this convention to work towards protecting the rights of children. The principles of the CRC are:
- the right to life, survival and development
- devotion to the best interests of the child
- respect for the views of the child
Despite this convention, human rights abuses persist. Poverty and child labour are two of the big human rights issues for children.
